It's not her dodgy outfits, her baby weight or even her questionable bras that have put Britney Spears in the spotlight this time...

Instead, it's her driving skills.

She's been blasted by the US media after pictures show her motoring down the road with her baby, Sean Preston, on her lap.

But in her defence, Brit says she was put in that position because she was "terrified" of photographers who were following her, and did not have time to put her baby in his seat.

"I had a horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi while I was with my baby," she said in a statement.

"Because of a recent incident when I was trapped in my car without my baby by a throng of paparazzi, I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger.

"I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us, and took photos of us which were sold to the media.

"I love my child and would do anything to protect him."

Yeah, right! Whenever a celebrity gets caught doing something they shouldn't, they always blame somebody else especially the 'evil' paparazzi! I don't buy it Britney.

Dirty Dannii

Security footage from London's Puss In Boots apparently shows Dannii Minogue enjoying a naked lap dance. The popstar, and sister of Kylie was seen RELISHING simulated sex romps with dancer Jupiter,SNOGGING with her passionately, THRUSTING her face into her boobs and FONDLING the performer's curves.

A guest at the club said "Dannii was having the time of her life and didn't care who saw.

"She wasn't in a private booth or the VIP area, she was on the dance floor.

"I can't believe how far they went. It was more like a porn film.

"There were hands and tongues everywhere - I thought it was going to turn into a full-on orgy."

Paris Hilton Makes The Bar

Socialite and video star Paris Hilton has splashed out on a stake in her favourite London watering hole.

Dad Rick paid for her 50% share in South Kensington bar The Collection, reports the Mirror.

Paris was advised to get in on the action by pal Geoffrey Moore, son of James Bond star Roger, who co-owns Hush in Mayfair.

The Mirror's source said: "Paris loves London, and whenever she's here she always goes wild for the party scene.

"She's very good mates with Geoffrey and he has been advising her to get a slice of the action. Her parents have bought her a 50 per cent share in The Collection as she loves the vibe there so much."

It's a favourite haunt of the likes of Prince William, his girlfriend Kate Middleton, and Charlotte Church.

The source added: "This is just a start for Paris, and her family would like her to make more investments in London bars.

"She has the looks and personality to move their success into another arena as the bar industry is huge."

THE BEATLES photo find

A huge collection of previously unseen photographs of THE BEATLES on the set of their 1965 movie HELP! has been discovered after 35 years in storage.

The 500 images, which have been published in new book NOW THESE DAYS ARE GONE, were found at the University of Dundee, Scotland.

Photographer MICHAEL PETO bequeathed his entire archive to the institution after his death in 1970 - but the university only found the shots of the Fab Four when they were preparing the collection for digital storage.

Editor ROBBIE ELSON says, "The pictures are so extraordinary because of the access. You just wouldn't get such unstaged, candid pictures of pop stars these days.

"Unfortunately, a lot of these pictures are a mystery, Michael Peto was not an archivist and left us very little information with his work.

"I found it almost impossible to believe that someone took all these pictures of the biggest band in history and did not mention them to anyone. We think Peto was commissioned by a paper but no one ever printed them. The mystery remains."

Team Jennifer Strikes Back

n unfortunate happening spoiled Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s dinner at Berlin’s Nola restaurant. While peacefully dinning, the couple had to face an attack launched by a Jennifer Aniston fan. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but though both Angie and Brad escaped without any physical damage, the crazy fan created quite a scandal in the luxurious restaurant.

The Hollywood’s sexiest pair, who are expecting their first child together this year, were taken by surprise by an angry woman screaming: "Where is that home-wrecking Angelina?"

The fan, dressed in a “Friends” T-shirt, stormy entered the restaurant, spotted the Hollywood couple and attempted to slap Angelina. But
the “Mrs. Smith”, hopefully next Mrs. Pitt was rescued by her prompt bodyguards, who stepped in and held the fan back. While the “Tomb Rider” star’s bodyguards were immobilizing the woman, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie rushed for their waiting car.

“Britain’s Daily Star” newspaper is reporting from an unmentioned source that "Angelina had taken her adopted kids Maddox and Zahara to Berlin. It's lucky she left them with a carer. The mentally unbalanced American had obviously been tipped off that they would be dining at Nola, because she was wearing an Aniston top and was on the look-out for Angelina. Angelina would normally have confronted the woman, but she was petrified because she's carrying her first child and won't risk any harm coming to it."

Paul Weller Slams Idols

In a recent interview with Uncut magazine Paul Weller (formely of THE JAM) didn’t hold back when launching scathing tirades on the likes of David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Sting, U2 and Bob Geldof.

Weller, who will take home the Lifetime Achievement Award at this years Brits, said of one time winner Geldof: “Bob Geldof. What’d he win it for? Can’t be for his music, man. I mean, if it’s for his charity work in Africa then you can’t knock it, but Boomtown Rats, fuck off.”

Next in the line of fire was Sting, of whom he said: “Fucking horrible man. Not my cup of tea at all. Fucking rubbish. No edge, no attitude, no nothing.”

Then on U2 front man Bono he fumed: “The whole thing of Bono becoming the Pope - what the fuck’s all that about? Pseudo-American rubbish.”

Weller didn’t have any respect for the dead, blasting Queen legend Freddie Mercury. “He said he wanted to bring ballet to the working classes. What a cunt.”

A finally he called the quality of David Bowie’s output into question and his receiving of the Lifetime gong, saying: “Wrong! I like about three records of his. The rest of it’s pish.”

All Gigwise can say is the interviewer must having been rubbing his hands together. Oh, and Weller - remember the Style Council?!

Neve Campbell settles in London

Actress NEVE CAMPBELL has settled down in London after becoming engaged to new love, British actor JOHN LIGHT.

The pair began dating last year, after appearing together in INVESTIGATING SEX, and got engaged before Christmas. They now live in the trendy borough of Islington - and Campbell is relieved to be rid of "culture-free" Los Angeles.

She will also make her West End debut in Arthur Miller's Resurrection Blues which opens at the Old Vic on 22nd February (previews from 14th) and runs until 22nd April. The play, Miller's penultimate, will be directed by Robert Altman, who is making his UK stage debut.

Resurrection Blues had its world premiere at Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis in 2002, but Miller continued to work on it, completing the revised version of the script just a month before his death at the age of 89.

Jordan sells boobs on eBay

Sexy model Jordan says she will sell her boobs on eBay.

The model is waiting to have an operation to make her current 32FF breasts smaller and "more pert."

She revealed she will put her discarded silicone implants up for sale on the web auction site reports the Sun.

She told Radio 1's Chris Moyles: "I'm having them reduced because I want them a bit more pert. I've had them eight years now. So it's time for a new pair and I'll sell this lot on eBay."

After 28 years in print pop mag Smash Hits have decided to call it a day. Changes in the music industry and falling sales have been blamed for the decision.

Harry Potter five begins filming

Filming for the fifth Harry Potter movie will begin next week.

Directed by award winning British filmmaker David Yates, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will see Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson reprise their roles as close-knit teen wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.



The movie, based on J.K. Rowling's novel series, sees Harry return for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts only to discover that much of the community is in denial about the teenager's recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort.

New characters in the latest installment include The Interpreter star George Harris as Kingsley Shacklebolt, About A Boy star Natalia Tena as Nymphadora Tonks and 14 year-old newcomer Evanna Lynch, who beat over 15,000 hopefuls at an open casting call to win the role of Luna Lovegood, a Ravenclaw student who becomes an important ally to Harry.

Filming will begin at Leavesden Studios near Watford on February 6.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is slated for release in 2007.

Jude and the stripper

Just a few days after breaking up with beautiful Sienna Miller, the charming actor Jude Law has lately been spotted getting a little too close to an American stripper. He’s been visiting quite often a Hollywood strip club, called The Body Shop in order to see a sensual brunette erotic dancer.

America's New York Post newspaper was informed by an unknown source that "he's been going to the Body Shop strip club every night and hanging out with this nasty young brunette - she is really beat looking."

Last week, Jude split up with his long time lover Sienna Miller, but for good this time. The ex-couple had an on and off relationship and finally put the end to this stormy way of living. After a succession of cheating revelations and break-ups, Law announced he would move in with his ex-wife,
Sadie Frost and their children; that was the end for him and Sienna.

The actor will live in Frost’s home for a month while he is filming in Los Angeles. Finding out about this decision, "Sienna went absolutely ballistic when Jude told her Sadie and the kids would be staying with him. She told him: 'You've set up home all over again with your ex-wife. If that's what you are prepared to do, you should just go back to her.' Jude says it's now definitely over for good," a source informed America's New York Post

Arrested again: are police harassing Pete Doherty?

Long-suffering fans of Pete Doherty and his band Babyshambles face more disappointment tonight as the singer prepares to spend the weekend in prison.

A judge ruled that the 26-year-old former boyfriend of Kate Moss would have to remain in custody after his latest arrest on drugs charges. His management immediately cancelled gigs planned for Bristol and London this weekend. In less than three months, Mr Doherty has been stopped or arrested at least 10 times, prompting allegations of police harassment.

Representatives of Mr Doherty's record company, Rough Trade, say they have lost count of the number of times he has been in trouble with the law. "Anyone looking at this from the outside must be under the impression that this is police harassment," said a Rough Trade spokesman. "It's happened far too many times for it to be anything else."

District Judge Stephen Dawson, sitting at Thames magistrates' court, told Mr Doherty: "I'm sorry if my order will affect your fans and people who go to your concerts."

Prosecutors told the court that plain clothes police officers stopped him on Thursday because he looked suspicious and because he was a known drug user. They found a wrap of white powder in his pockets, the court heard. Mr Doherty is said to have told the officers before they arrested him: "It was in my pocket from earlier. I didn't even know it was there. Please, officers, don't do this. I've got a gig tonight, cut me a break."

The singer is due to appear on 8 February at Ealing magistrates' court for sentence. He also faces charges of possessing drugs. A spokesman for Mr Doherty said all tickets would be refunded in full and that they would try to rearrange the gigs after 8 February.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "He keeps coming to the attention of the police because he keeps committing offences. We have to do our job and that may also mean following up allegations."

Mr Doherty formed Babyshambles after being sacked from his previous band, the Libertines, over his heroin addiction.

Babyshambles' debut album, Down In Albion, hit the top 10 in November, but the band have become almost as famous for cancelling gigs as they are for Mr Doherty's drug problems. They were sacked from Oasis's 2005 UK tour for failing to turn up.

Pleaded guilty to possessing heroin and remanded in custody until 8 February.
